I wrote this song at the beginning of 2011 as an acknowledgement of the darkness I had been experiencing over the last few years. I think often we try to forget the difficulties we go through once they’re behind us. I wanted to rather celebrate the shadows and thank them for helping me to grow and for teaching me how to pray to my higher Self, the Me who is always connected to the Divine. This is not a religious statement, it’s just a feeling I have. Divinity has no rules, only people have rules. Sometimes praying is as simple as cooking a bowl of healthy soup my friend Mikhel has taught me to make…that alone is a prayer and an offering to my Self.

Hello my dark days
My fountains pouring night
This personal horror story
And I will be just fine

It’s just how I learn
To pray

When you try to fix me
Every time I cry
You leave me a pauper
Penniless and prone to fight

It’s just how I learn
This is how I learn
It’s just how I learn
To pray

Sit here with myself
Perfect solitude
To bring myself back home
I cooked myself a bowl of soup

It’s just how I learn
This is how I learn
It’s just how I learn
To pray

Vivid is me
I’m an orchid after the rain
I am pregnant and resplendent
I’m tameless and I’m wise

With every step I take
And every move I make
With every step I take
I’m following the wild line
